Sailing Areas in the Sporades
You can charter a boat from either Skiathos or Skopelos island. In Skiathos, we offer boat rentals such as
sailboats and
catamarans in
Vorio Neo Limani Port. In
Skopelos Marina, we mainly rent sailboats.
Climate and Sailing Conditions in the Sporades
In the summertime, temperatures range in the high-twenties, occasionally peaking 30°C. Late spring and early autumn are good times to sail with cooler yet pleasant temperatures, too.
Though not as strong as in the Cyclades Islands, the meltemi winds blow forcefully in the summertime varying from force 4-6, sometimes peaking 7.
Itinerary Ideas for the Sporades
In Skiathos, you’ll find plenty of wonderful beaches where you can moor and relax in the clear blue sea. Beaches such as Lalaria Beach, Tsougria and Koukounaries Beach are a must-visit! The pro of having your boat rental is that you can access more beaches like Lalaria, which is only accessible by boat! From Skiathos, you can sail an easy 6 nautical mile sail with the wind in your favour—bliss! In Skiathos town, you’ll find plenty of brilliant bars and restaurants where you can sample delicious Greek dishes. There is also a medieval castle if you enjoy viewing ancient architecture and exploring Greek history. We also recommend the Moni Evangelistrias, a monastery famed for the refuge it gave freedom fighters during the War of Independence.
Skopelos also has its fair share of gorgeous sandy beaches and clear blue water oases such as Kastani Beach, Paralia Stafilos and Paralia Panormos. Visit cultural sights such as the Folklore Museum, Venetian Castle and the Monastery of Panagia Evangelistria.
