We had a wonderful day out in Malta. Dominique was extremely knowledgeable about the various area and took us to so many beautiful spots. Even with unfortunate rain for a few hours we were able to have a great experience. The communication was easy and super responsive from Vince.

Perfect trip. Only one cooling box (with half of it filled with ice) for 14 persons is not enough. But all in all, perfect!

That was probably the best experience I had on a boat (we were 8 people). The skipper was a great guide, pilot and also really fun. Thanks a lot a see you soon!

We had a fantastic afternoon on the Boston Whaler! The captain took us to some hidden caves and made sure we had chance to swim in some quieter spots away from the large crowds, the whole journey was tailored made. The only small issue we had was we were not told the exact location upon booking to meet the captain and boat on the day and as we were tourists, it took us a little bit of walking around and calling to find out exactly where the pick up point was to start our trip. However this did not dampen our trip, we both said we wished we had booked for the whole day rather than just the afternoon. We would highly recommend this company and would definitely book with them again if we return to Malta!

Yacht charter in Malta with Nautal

Although it has become quite trendy in recent years, not many people know about the mythical Mediterranean archipelago of Malta. This island nation might be the smallest country in the European Union, but it has grown in popularity with tourists and is now considered a tourist hotspot. There’s a lot to love about Malta but perhaps the things that attract most of its visitors are the beautiful weather and lush landscapes. But Malta is so much more than sunny days and pretty sights; learn about its colourful history, get an adrenaline rush out on the water and take in the striking sight of the unspoilt coastline while sailing through the archipelago. Water is a large part of what makes Malta a sought-after tourist destination so of course, the best way to see the country is by boat! Because of its small size, you can see almost everything that Malta has to offer in only a few short days. So, what are you waiting for? With a yacht charter in Malta, you can get a taste of this charming island nation, and have the holiday of a lifetime.

What is the cost of a Malta boat rental?

The price of a boat charter in Malta will be different due to a number of factors. The exact location of your trip, the duration of your trip and how many passengers are onboard the vessel can have an impact on the final cost. In addition, the size and type of vessel you choose and whether or not your boat includes a skipper can also affect the price. What can you see and do on a private yacht charter in Malta?

Malta might be small but it is mighty and jam-packed with exciting things to see and do. Whether you’re travelling to Malta with family or friends, there is something for everyone on this striking island. Here are some of our favourite activities and sights to add to your Malta boat charter itinerary!

  • Tour the capital: Head to Valletta, the country’s capital which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While there you can learn about Maltese culture and history by visiting attractions such as St. John’s Co-Cathedral and the Upper Barrakka Gardens. You can also find a safe and sheltered spot for sailors in the natural harbour.
  • Go diving in Gozo: Visit this island which sits just north of Malta and take in the beauty of the rugged coastline. While there you can sunbathe on beautiful beaches like Ramla Bay and Xlendi Bay or, if you want a bit of adrenaline, go diving in some of the best dive spots in the country. Scuba dive in the crystalline waters of the Inland Sea or snorkel at The Cathedral, another popular dive site which is rife with colourful marine life.
  • Discover shipwrecks: Malta is home to a number of alluring wrecks that you can explore by diving below the surface. In Gozo you can see the Wreck of Xlendi which is a WWII wreck turned into an artificial reef. Other shipwrecks near Malta include P29 and Um El Faroud.
  • Swim in the Blue Lagoon: This is a popular beach located on the island of Comino boasts electric blue waters, perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Other nice beaches include Gnejna Bay, St. Peter’s Pool and Ghajn Tuffieha Bay.

What is the best time to charter a boat in Malta?

The best time to visit Malta would be from May to October when temperatures are warm and pleasant and precipitation levels are low. For the hottest weather, visit in August when the average high temperature is 27°C. However, bear in mind that Malta is most crowded in the summer so if you want to avoid the crowds we recommend a visit in May, June, September or October.

Do I need a skipper on board my Malta yacht charter?

At Nautal we have a large fleet of bareboat rentals in addition to vessels which include a skipper and/ or crew on board. Even if you have a boating licence, we always recommend renting a boat with a skipper on board in order to have a secure and tranquil holiday and absolute peace of mind on board. Skippers are masters at their craft who handle all of the nautical logistics, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. The best part is that skippers are usually Malta locals who can take you to all of the must-see sights on your travel itinerary and maybe add a few more to your list! For avid sailors, having a skipper alongside you can give you added security in case of emergency and skippers might also be able to teach you a thing or two! For a more personalised experience, choose a skippered yacht charter in Malta!

What type of vessel should I choose for a yacht charter in Malta?

The type of vessel you choose for your Malta boat charter will depend on the amount of time you plan to spend on board. If you only want a sailing holiday of a few days, then you won’t need more than a RIB or a motorboat, which will help you see everything on your itinerary in no time. For longer holidays of a week or more, you should opt for a more spacious vessel which includes amenities such as a kitchen, cabin and bathroom. If you want a more authentic sailing experience we’d recommend a sailboat however, you should always choose one with a skipper since these vessels can be notoriously challenging to navigate.

No matter which sort of vessel you’re looking for, you’re sure to find the right one for your yacht charter in Malta with Nautal.
