Yacht Rental in the Caribbean

You can find yacht rentals in the Caribbean and in different dream destinations around the world on the Nautal website. Flexible cancellation or changes up to 15 days before check in is allowed on selected boats. Check the conditions established with each boat owner. With over 7,000 islands — and more uninhabited islets — to explore by boat, a luxury yacht charter in the Caribbean is truly the best way to experience this fantastic area. From charming fishing villages to vibrant rum bars, a Caribbean yacht charter opens a world of sailing possibilities. Famed for its calm, warm waters, the best way to navigate the area is through an island-hopping expedition. Here, you can get a feel for island life as you meander from port to port, taking in the breath-taking sunsets and dream-like seascapes. If you're not familiar with how to rent a yacht, look no further.

Where could possibly be more luxurious, more utopian, or more tranquil, than the Caribbean? Yacht rentals in the Caribbean are one of our most popular charter vessels in this area, and for good reason, too. Where else can you lie in paradise with wonderfully warm weather and picture-perfect panoramic views while discovering swimming pigs, colourful iguanas and reptiles, as well as a whole host of marine life swimming just beneath the surface of the transparent water.

What Caribbean yacht charter prices can you expect?

Caribbean yacht charter prices fluctuate greatly depending on a number of different factors, including the size, model, and capacity of the boat, the season when you plan to travel, the duration of your charter, whether or not you plan to travel with a skipper, and the part of the Caribbean you want to visit.  Yacht rentals in the Caribbean usually come with a captain, and the most luxurious vessels even come with a crew.

In general, daily Caribbean yacht charters can cost anywhere from around €1475 in low season, or €2283 in high season.  If you want to rent a yacht for a week in the Caribbean, prices will start at around €10, 325.  Generally speaking, Curacao is one of the cheaper areas for yacht hire in the Caribbean, while the price of yacht charters in Puerto Rico will be considerably higher.

Is it possible to rent a yacht in the Caribbean with or without a skipper?

Yes, it is possible to hire a yacht in the Caribbean either with or without a skipper. However, to book a bareboat charter, you must make sure that you have the appropriate boating licence. If in doubt, check with the boat owner before booking the boat to ensure no nasty surprises when you get there.

A skippered luxury yacht charter in the Caribbean is perfect for people who want to relax during their nautical adventure, without having to worry about the technicalities of sailing the boat. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a trip that’s full of adventure and spontaneity, or simply a more private yacht charter in the Caribbean, you should book up a bareboat charter to sail wherever you please, stopping off whenever you want, all in complete privacy.

What can I do with a yacht rental in the Caribbean?

A luxury yacht charter in the Caribbean with a skipper allows you to sit back and relax as you sail from one contrasting island to another. You can plan your itinerary based entirely on your tastes, with everything from tranquil, secluded beaches allowing peace of mind to fast-paced water sports offering a true adrenaline rush. Whatever kind of holiday you decide on, you can adapt your Caribbean yacht charter to really make the most out of your trip. The pace and the route are completely up to you.

And on land...

The range of routes to choose from during your Caribbean yacht charter are very impressive! The Virgin Islands, Leeward Islands, Grenadines, St Lucia, St Martin, Antigua and — of course — the Bahamas all offer a varied landscape of pristine natural parks, lush, forested mountain landscapes and bustling marinas serving the world's best seafood. As a veritable yachting playground, you'll want to pick your base in the Caribbean and take it slow. A Caribbean yacht rental to the Lesser Antilles, for instance, may see you sailing from St Lucia to the Grenadines, stopping off at coral reefs, waterfalls and famed shipwrecks. The Bahamas, too, offers plenty of diving opportunities, with Abacos and Exumas containing some of the most beautiful marine parks in the world.  You especially shouldn’t miss the Ocean Atlas statue if you decide going diving or snorkelling here.  It is the world’s biggest underwater statue, so big that it had to be assembled underwater and is easily visible from the surface.

If you’re still struggling for inspiration or fancy reading a bit about itinerary routes and sailing ideas, our blog is full of Caribbean yacht charter itineraries and sailing routes. Guadeloupe, The Windward Islands, the British Virgin Islands, you name it, we’ve got it. They tend to vary from a few days to a fortnight and some have various options, meaning you can tailor the route to suite the amount of time you have planned for your yacht charter.

What weather and sailing conditions can be expected when you rent a yacht in the Caribbean?

The weather conditions in the Caribbean are subject to much seasonal variation.  Although the temperatures remain fairly pleasant all year round, some periods see a significantly higher quantity of rain.  There is even a hurricane season, which runs from June until November, although hurricanes are most likely to occur from August to September.  During this period, the weather will be unpredictable and so it is best to avoid booking a boat within this time.

When is the best time for a yacht rental in the Caribbean?

Christmas and Thanksgiving are both popular times of the year for to go sailing in the Caribbean with family and friends. However, to us, the most preferable time of year is early summer in the months from March to June. The flowers and plants are in bloom, the wildlife is tranquil and content with the pleasant weather conditions and calm winds.  There will also be fewer tourists, meaning you are more likely to find better boat deals.

The only time we would advise against hiring a yacht in the Caribbean is during the hurricane season.  Although there is a possibility that the hurricanes won’t hit the island where you are, there is also a possibility that the weather will be too poor some days to go out on the water.

What are the best harbours and marinas to stop off at during your Caribbean yacht charter?

While there are many great harbours and marinas in the Caribbean, we have compiled a list of our top ten:

  • American Yacht Harbour, St Thomas, USVI
  • Bimini Bay Resorts and Marina, Bimini, the Bahamas
  • Isle de Sol, a small island near Anguilla
  • Jolly Harbour Marina, Antigua and Barbuda
  • Marina Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic
  • Leverick Bay Resort and Marina, Virgin Gorda, BVI
  • Rodney Bay Marina, St Lucia
  • The Yacht Club Palmas de Mar, Puerto Rico
  • Royal Jamaica Yacht Club and Marina, Jamaica
  • Yacht Haven Grande, St Thomas, USVI

This list is just a small taste of the fantastic marinas waiting for you in the Caribbean, but they are some of the best suited to accommodate the needs of all sailors, from novices to those with a little more experience.

How to get to the Caribbean?

You can fly directly to many of the island airports in the Caribbean. Lots of them are international airports and others are smaller local airports. Miami International Airport (MIA) is a large airport with many connections and is also close to the Bahamas if you would rather rent a yacht in Miami and sail over.
