Roman and Venetian ruins leave coastal cities historically timeworn while luscious islands surrounded by crystalline clear water create absolute paradise. Renting a yacht in Croatia is the perfect way of making your means of transport your luxurious aquatic hotel room whilst discovering this incredible country.
Croatia is one of the best sailing experiences in Europe. Comprised of over 1,200 islands in the Adriatic Sea, you can explore a range of secluded beaches, historic and timeless towns, and stunning national parks when you rent a yacht in Croatia. From luxury yachts with a skipper through family-friendly catamarans and simple bareboats, choose from a wide selection of vessels for day excursions or week-long island-hopping adventures. Although the peak summer season sees heavy tourist traffic, many small islands and fishing villages remain off-the-beaten-track, offering a perfect setting for peaceful and romantic getaways. Our most popular regions for yacht rentals in Croatia are Split, Hvar and Šibenik. Though of course, we also have yacht rentals based in other regions of Croatia, giving you more flexibility for your yacht charter. Here is a list of the regions, listed from north to south:
The high season runs from June to August which coincides with the sailing season (May to September), giving sailors plenty of vitamin D and swimming opportunities! Spring and Autumn feature cooler temperatures but the crowds are fewer so this is also a great time for your yacht charter. There are occasional showers with temperatures varying from 22°C to 28°C in the spring time, whereas the temperatures in summer can peak 30°C.
The wind force is generally 3 - 4 with a north-westerly direction in the summer.
Your itinerary really depends on what your idea of fun is, as Croatia not only provides you with over one thousand paradisiac islands, each of which has its own character and qualities, but also with various regions along the coast rich in culture and tradition.
For example, Hvar is known as the party island, whereas Mljet is a tranquil paradise carpeted in greenery and natural beauty.
Pula plays host to music festivals such as Outlook or Dimensions every summer where boat parties are a given and the standard city nightlife accelerates from vibrant to illuminous.
Charter Zadar, the Kornati Islands and Šibenik on the Dalmatian Coast for a real taste of coastal Croatian culture and lifestyle.
There are three main airports with direct flights from Europe; Dubrovnik (DBV), Split (SPU) and Croatia’s inland capital, Zagreb (ZAG). Depending on where you wish to begin your yacht rental, it may be better to fly to one of these airports and then get a regional flight to a smaller more local airport.
Please note that there are train services inland, but that many coastal cities do not have train stations, hereby making bus a suitable public transport method.
In Croatia, privately owned boats are available for charter. See other boats in the area.
