Nautal has a wide range of yachts for hire in Spain as well as in many prime destinations around the world. Flexible cancellation or change up to 15 days before check in is also available on selected vessels but you have to check the conditions directly with each individual shipowner.
If you choose a yacht charter in Spain, you can look forward to warm sparkling seas, lively beachside towns and cities, seafood dishes that create an explosion of flavour in your mouth and also an array of some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean.
Yacht charters allow you to embark on a variety of new adventures, all while letting you view Spain (or wherever else you go) from a different perspective. There are many different anchorage possibilities in Spain, from the bustling cities like Barcelona, to the more relaxed and peaceful islands such as Mallorca. No matter where you go, you can count on days of endless sunshine, crystal clear bays and sunsets that light up the whole coast in a golden glow.
With more than 12,000 kilometres (around 7,500 miles) of coastline, the exploration opportunities in Spain when you rent a yacht are endless. Nearby destinations such as the Balearic Islands, the Costa Brava, the Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands are all within sailing distance and offer a variety of coves and beaches which are only reachable by boat. This makes a yacht charter the best way to fully experience the beauty of this Mediterranean paradise without missing out on any of the things they have to offer.
The price of yacht charters in Spain can vary a lot depending on a multitude of factors, such as your destination, the time of year you want to go, the yacht model and age, the maximum capacity of the yacht, it’s length, the number of days you want to spend on board, and whether or not you want a skipper/crew or any of the other extras that some boat owners offer.
Below you can find a list of prices depending on the area and in some cases the season:
In Barcelona, yacht hire in high season starts at €734 for half a day, €1346 for a day charter, and €6730 for a week. In low season, this drops to €551 for a half day charter, €979 per day and €4895 per week.
In the Balearics, high season yacht rental prices start at around €438 for a day and €3064 for a week, while low season prices start at €219 per day and €1532 per week.
In the Canaries, you can expect to pay around €5471 for a week, while in Girona, you can expect to pay anywhere from €851 for half a day’s charter, €1337 for the day and €9118 for the week.
Malaga’s high season yacht charter prices start at €912 for half a day, €1459 per day and €7295 for a week charter, while low season prices start at €426 per half day, €729 for a day and €3647 per week.
In Denia, you can expect to pay around €426 for half a day, €608 for a full day and €3404 for a week.
Finally, in Torrevieja, prices typically start at €486 for half days, €669 if you want the yacht for the whole day, and €4255 for a week.
Yes, it is possible to rent a yacht in Spain with or without a skipper. However, if you’re after a bareboat charter in Spain, you will not only need a boating licence. If your licence was not issued in Spain, you will also need the Harbour Master to certify the validity of your licence, so beware of this.
Most of the boats that we offer are only available with a skipper, but you will need to check if this is included in the price or if the cost of the skipper is extra.
Renting a yacht without a skipper is the perfect holiday for experienced sailors who want to sail around the whole of Spain, stopping off at all of the best beaches and hidden coves along the way. If you’re not very experienced though, or simply want a more relaxed vacation, you should consider renting with a professional skipper who can show you all of the best places in the surrounding area.
Spain is a unique place to visit on account of the fact that you will experience a very different climate depending on the area you visit. There are four main climates in Spain: Oceanic, Mediterranean, subtropical, and mountain.
The Mediterranean coast generally benefits from a pleasant climate, with long, hot summers and short, mild winters. As you go further south, this climate is accentuated further with even more sunny days and even higher temperatures.
Along the Atlantic coastline, the conditions are perhaps a little worse. The winter is generally mild and humid, with frequent rainfall and rare days of sunshine. The coasts of Galicia and Asturias are often exposed to westerly winds, making them extremely windy, and in Galicia especially, the rainfall is abundant, particularly from October to April. The summer in this area is also typically cool and rainy and the weather is even cloudy in the summer months of July and August, with the sea temperatures barely reaching 21°C (70°F).
The Canary Islands are fantastic for sailing all year round, with pleasant conditions during the summer and winter. Meanwhile, in the Balearics, although the weather is still pleasant for most of the year, it is generally advisable to rent a yacht from April to October.
The best thing about Spain is that it is an amazing sailing destination with many options all year round, depending on the weather you prefer, on top of other factors. If you want to visit Spain in the winter, between November and February, the Canary Islands are the best place to go. The climate in these idyllic islands is sunny and warm all year round, the air temperature rarely dipping below 18°C (64.5°F) and the sea temperature remaining fairly consistent at around 22°C (71.5°F).
Naturally, spring and autumn are both usually great times to go sailing in the Mediterranean because although the weather is amazing, in these seasons, you can escape the big crowds that flock to the beaches the second summer starts. It is generally best to avoid the Mediterranean in the summer, especially in July and August, as during the summer holiday months families come in their thousands, leaving beaches overcrowded and sending the prices sky high. Provided you avoid these months though, you are sure to be in for a fantastic holiday full of the sumptuous feasts full of some of the best food Europe has to offer.
On the other hand, if you do want to visit during the summer months, we recommend visiting the north of Spain for your yacht rental. While this area can be a little cold in the winter, in the summer the weather is pleasant and also still a little cooler for those who prefer to avoid the hot weather. Do be sure to check the weather forecast though, as the sea can get a little rough at any time of the year, so you should be ready to return to the nearest port with your yacht rental at any time. This might also not be the best area to go swimming in, as the sea temperature, especially in Galicia, rarely makes it above 15°C (59°F).
The possibilities for what to do when you rent a yacht in Spain are endless. Obviously, many people like to spend their time dolphin and whale watching and this is a possibility in both the south of Spain, and near the Balearic Islands. You can even go into the water and although swimming with dolphins is prohibited here, there are plenty of other snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities and plenty of other marine species to observe up close.
You can even try out fishing if you fancy trying out a new pastime or want to catch yourself a fresh dinner.
On land, there are even more possibilities. During the summer months, you can have cocktails on the beach in one of the Chiringuitos, and during the daytime, you can head into one of the many museums or other tourist attractions in one of the bustling cities lining the coast. Just some of the amazing places you can visit along the coast include Barcelona, Ibiza, Valencia, Benidorm, Alicante and Cartagena.
Although there are many different ports that you can stop off at during your yacht charter in Spain, the top five major ports are:
Many of the ports listed here are not just among the biggest and busiest in Spain, but also in Europe. The Port of Algeciras is even the 9th biggest port in the world!
Other sailing areas in Spain include:
Barcelona is a fantastic place to visit, with not just spectacular weather, but also many sites of significant cultural importance to visit, such as the Sagrada Familia. It is also the perfect centre point for your vacation if you plan to travel to various other parts of the Mediterranean. For example, the Costa Brava region, the French Riviera, and even the Balearic Islands are all within sailing distance from Barcelona. You can also go south to the Costa Dorada…it’s up to you!
This is one of the best places to visit if you want to experience the best of the Spanish nightlife. With long stretches of beautiful coastline and cool turquoise waters, Malaga is the gift that keeps on giving. You can also sail to other areas of Spain from here, such as Marbella, Almeria, and a whole host of other charming seaside towns and villages. You can plan your Spanish sailing adventure to suit your preferences. If you’re feeling especially daring, you can even explore the Alboran Sea, or make the trip over to Morocco.
Everyone has heard of Ibiza, the European party centre which has long been considered one of the best places in the Mediterranean to enjoy a night out. If a party isn’t what you’re after though, you can take your boat over to explore the many uninhabited islets and remote underwater locations. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, you can even escape land completely for a couple of hours and escape into the crystal blue waters with a unique underwater scuba diving adventure.
There are many different ways to get to Spain, depending on your preferences and budget. Obviously, the quickest and easiest way to reach Spain is by plane. You can get direct flights to most of the major airports from the majority of European countries and you can even find direct flights to Madrid or Barcelona from some airports along the East Coast of the USA.
If you prefer though, you can also fly into one of the neighbouring countries and travel in using a different method. Other ways to travel to Spain from nearby countries include, boat, train, bus and even car! There truly is no end of possibilities for travelling to Spain.
