As an alternative, if you want to make the most of your sailing boat rental, you can sail the Kornati Islands and Kornati National Park. 

Šibenik centre is a delightful Croatian city with beautiful surroundings and scenery. Visit its cathedral and fortress to view fine specimens of architecture. Try your luck and check ongoing events at the fortress as it’s frequently used as a open air venue and has gorgeous views of the islands and sea. 

Some sailors decide to rent their sailing boat in Zadar and from there set sail among the marvellous islands there before continuing to Šibenik. 

If you are flying to Croatia, the airports Split (SPU) and Zadar (ZAD) are the closest, though in opposite directions of Šibenik. You can get buses from both airports to Šibenik and various other locations.
