Sailboat rentals in Turkey

Come and discover Turkey, undoubtedly a destination that is fashionable with its own merit, with a sailboat charter. With mosques and spas around every corner, its beaches will make you want to return time and time again. With a unique location, granting access to 4 seas, Turkey becomes the perfect tourist destination for sailing in a sailboat. Ankara, its capital, and Istanbul await you, as well as its popularly visited coast, the Mediterranean Sea.

Flexible cancellation or date changes up to 15 days before check-in is allowed on selected boats.  With so many options available, we feel sure that you will find the perfect boat for you.

How much does it cost to rent a sailing boat in Turkey?

The cost of a sailing vacation in Turkey will vary greatly depending on a number of different factors including the number of people, the length of stay, the season and even the area of Turkey where you want to rent.

For Marmaris sailboat charters, you should expect to pay around $2411 per week in high season or $1383 per week in low season.

In Bodrum, sailboat hire costs around $3745 a week in high season and $3096 a week in low season.

Sailboat rental costs in Fethiye and Gocek are around $1566 per week in high season and about $1505 per week in low season.

In Antalya, prices remain fairly consistent year round at about $612 a day or $4283 a week.

In Kas, sailboat hire costs around $979 per day and $6751 per week in high season, but drop down to $551 per day and $3671 per week in low season.

In Oren, you should expect to pay around $2386 a week in high season, but only $1652 a week in low season.

We also have boats in some other locations including Aydin, so it’s worth checking our website for the full range of prices and services.

Is it possible to get a bareboat charter in Turkey?

Yes, in Turkey you can rent a boat with or without a skipper but in order to rent without, you will need a Certificate of Competence for all motorised boats and yachts bigger than 2.5 m (8.2 ft).

Renting a sailboat in Turkey without a skipper is perfect for competent sailors who want to explore all that Turkey has to offer freely.  If you’re a beginner or simply want a more relaxing holiday, you should rent with a skipper.

What are the weather and sailing conditions like in Turkey?

The climate in Turkey varies greatly depending on where you go, but generally, in its high season from May to October, you will see clear skies and beautiful waves. With an average temperature of 20°C (68°F), which rises to around 30°C (86°F) in the summer, and with perfect summer water temperatures, your sailboat rental vacation promises to be spectacular. Typically, August is the driest month in Turkey and autumn and winter can be really rainy.  Renting a sailboat in Turkey is the best option if you are sailing, with the winds of meltemi and mud, coming from the north and southeast respectively. You should, however, always check the weather forecast before sailing in Turkey.

When is the best time for a sailboat rental in Turkey?

The best time for a sailboat rental in Turkey depends on what sort of holiday you want.  If you want the best weather, you should go between May and October when the temperatures will be high and the water temperatures will be ideal for swimming.  However, during this time, there will also be more people and boat prices are likely to be higher.  If you want to avoid the crowds and don’t mind a bit of rain, you should go between November and April.  Although the weather will be worse during this time, you can find some great deals on boats and you are assured a much quieter holiday.

What are the best ports and sailing areas in Turkey?

In the port of Netsel Marina, with 750 moorings, you will be able to board your sailboat ready for sailing. But do not forget that Turkey is very large and there are other large ports prepared for sailboat rentals, such as Albatros, Fethiye Ece and Göcek. All of them have more than 200 berths and additional services for your sailing trip.

Palmarina in Bodrum, is another fantastic marina, with 620 berths, 24 hour mooring assistance and plenty of places to eat.  Marti Marina, surrounded by mountainous pine forests and a brilliant blue ocean, is one of the only marinas where you can actually swim where you’re moored.  Atakoy Marina is another fantastic choice as it is located a short distance from the airport.  At this marina there are also many essential services, including laundry, ironing and repair services.

During your sailboat charter, you should also definitely take the time to visit the best beaches in Turkey. Our three top picks are Turun beach, where maximum tranquility reigns, the beach of Gobun located between two cliffs or the beach of Altinkum, where the sunsets are a great highlight.  Any of these are ideal sailing areas to make your trip truly memorable.

What to do in Turkey?

Being partially in Europe and partially in Asia, and bordering four different seas, Turkey has so many areas to explore that it is perfect for sailing excursions.  Most people prefer sailing on the west coast, where the Gulf of Fethiye, Gulf of Gokova and Datca Peninsula provide ideal sailing conditions, complete with ports, fishing towns and marinas with a full range of services.  There are also many restaurants lining the coast, just waiting for you to stop off in them and enjoy the delicious local dishes.

In Turkey, there are lots of different beaches to visit during your sailing charter, including Turun beach.  This beach is the perfect place to go if you want to escape the throngs of tourists for a while and we thoroughly recommend relaxing here with a good book while working on your tan.

If you head over to Istanbul, you should visit the Aya Sofya Museum, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world.  However, it’s not the only spectacular building in Turkey.  During your boat charter, you should take the time out to go to the Topkapi Palace.  Once a key location in the Ottoman empire, it now gives you an opportunity to see how the sultans of times gone past would have lived.  For some fresh air, you can also visit the surrounding public gardens, which offer some respite from the bustling Turkish streets.

How to get to Turkey

The airports of Istanbul Ataturk, Istanbul Sabiha, Izmir, Ankara, Antalya and Dalaman are perfect options if you want to arrive by plane. There are direct flights to Istanbul from many countries including the USA, Switzerland, and many cities across the UK, including London.  Do not forget that there is the option to arrive by boat from Greece or Italy.
