Boats Reviews

Sarah
10 Aug 2024
A huge thank you to Bruno for an incredible day on La Flaneuse! Our group of two families, including seven children/teenagers, greatly enjoyed the beautiful sites and learned a lot about operating a sailing boat. We brought a picnic, a couple of bottles of wine, and a wireless speaker and sang, danced, and laughed the entire time. We stopped for a swim and were able to jump from a couple of the coastlines. We were also visited by an “ice cream boat” selling cold treats and beverages. It was a perfect day and I highly recommend Bruno and his beautiful boat if you’d enjoy a day on the water.

This is the perfect location for a Marseille boat charter and to take to the shimmering waters of the idyllic Mediterranean. The city is also a great place to stock up on provisions for a week at sea since it is famous for its local cuisine which is full of Provençal delights. In the South of France, people love to go boating at any time of the year, whether it is summer or winter.

Is it possible to rent a boat in Marseille with or without a skipper?

Learning how to rent a boat is easy in a seafaring city like Marseilles. Whether you need a vessel with a skipper when you charter it or you will be captaining it yourself, bear in mind that only boats up to 15 horsepower can be rented without a license.

Unless you are an experienced skipper already, a couple of hours of tuition is advisable, especially considering how busy Marseilles' port can get. Of course, the price will depend on the size of the boat you want for your crew but there is something to suit every budget in a big city like Marseilles.

What to do in Marseille?

Boat charters in Marseille are an optimal choice with the natural beauty of this French Riviera city. There are many Marseille beaches to choose from, with inlets carved out of limestone cliffs, nature reserves on sandy islands, wide city beaches to play sport or to party with friends and secluded beaches for romantic swims.

Head to Plage du Vallons des Auffes on your Marseille vacation! This used to be an old fishing harbour, settled by Italian fishermen over a hundred years ago. This is not a beach but is a swimming spot. Locals use the rocks to stretch out their towels and lie down and use a metal ladder to climb in and out of the sea.

Next, Plage de Maldorme is protected from the wind by the picturesque houses circling the bay. This pebble beach can get busy in the summer when people climb from rock to rock to find their private boulder to lay on.

Plage du Prophete or Prophet beach is one of the oldest beaches in Marseille! It's great for families with small kids. There are no waves or wind which makes it great for kids to learn to swim. There are also some restaurants close to the beach so you can head there when you guys get hungry!

You can also visit Plage de L’Huveaune, a sandy beach. This narrow stretch of sand running along the main boulevard. If you are a family with kids, there is an area with lifeguards, a large playground and even a beach bar. A perfect break during your boat trip in Marseille.

While sailing in Marseille, you can also check out Plage Colombet and Plage des Phoceens. These two little known beaches on the outskirts of Marseille are rustic and surrounded by high rocky cliffs. This is a great place if you want to find shelter from the afternoon heat.

Marseille boat trips are the best to discover other beaches outside of the city. Plage de Sainte Croix and Plage de la Saulce are two beautiful sandy beaches you should visit. The white bay, separated by a small headland can get packed with sunseekers during the hotter months but that’s the best part about a boat hire in Marseille.

You must visit Frioul islands on your Marseille boat tour. Hire a boat in Provence and head to the islands to enjoy the different blues and white cliffs. Why not also enjoy some water sports in Marseille. You can paddleboard around the areas and look for marine life!

Smaller boat rentals will soon discover that there are plenty of protective bays to explore and weigh anchor. Just to the west of the city, there is the stunning Camargue coast to explore and, a little further on, some huge sandy beaches at places like Saint Pierre La Mer. To the west, Marseilles is in close proximity by sea to the smaller port city of Toulon as well
as Cap Bénat and the world-famous resort of Saint Tropez, known for its upmarket boutiques.

There are plenty of places to visit in the south of France. Why not head to Monte Carlo, right on the Italian border. Set sail to see Côte d'Azur, enjoy the national parks and more. If you love films, then you must plan to visit during the film festivals! Sail through the different parts of France at your leisure with Nautal.
