Welcome! Are you looking forward to spending your boating holiday in Friesland on one of our Frisian motor tjalks? If you would like to rent a motorboat in Friesland, you have come to the right place. Sailing is a way of life in diverse Friesland, which means rent a motorboat, hop on board and discover the best way to see and experience this beautiful province from a different perspective. Bed linen can be rented for €12 per set. Please indicate whether this is desired. Compulsory cleaning €50, which will be deducted from the deposit of €350, payable in cash at the port upon departure. Pets are allowed for an additional cleaning fee of €35. Chat with other water lovers during your trip, admire the traditional windmills on the shore, take a bike ride through cozy villages or dock in one of the trendy new harbors with a variety of modern facilities. Due to their generous dimensions, the charter boats are extremely comfortable and stable, i.e. all four boats are fully equipped with a kitchen, seating and sleeping accommodation, a so-called private house on the water or, as they say in Germany, a houseboat. Due to the low headroom (2.30 m) and the shallow draft, you can reach a large sailing area, so you pay less bridge fees. Sailing is easy and quick to learn because, in addition to the diesel engine, the Frisian motor tjalks have a bow thruster, which makes maneuvering even easier. The very friendly, helpful and accommodating support of Mart, the local representative of the boat rental company, could not hide the fact that the boats we used were in a dilapidated or poor technical condition. Two days before the tour, I was informed that the boat we had booked had failed due to an engine defect. An alternative boat offered did not have a bow thruster, which was unsuitable for the autumn weather. On the second boat, after spending the night on the jetty, we discovered so many technical defects that I wanted to cancel the vacation on the second day and hold the landlord responsible. Mart's special nature stopped me from doing this and I started the boating vacation despite significant technical defects. The technical equipment of the boats we used was not as described on the Internet, even with great effort from Mart. Despite considerable restrictions due to the technical defects, I went on the boat tours with my family (5 people) from October 12th to 19th, 2024. I can describe the defects in detail and provide evidence of them with photos. I will not rent a boat from this boat rental company and strongly advise against renting one of the boats I use.
Everything was straightforward. However, we didn't find the written description of the boat until a day later and then had to look for the grease gun and a few other things. We had a lot of fun doing it. As non-smokers, we looked for matches in vain and another boat crew gave us cleaning equipment. Returning the boat was also very nice - we were satisfied and now know what we should ask for when we take it over in the future. We will remember you fondly and wish you all the best. As newcomers with no experience with ships, we would have liked a little more detailed instruction. A short demo trip with tips on how to dock and moor the ship would have been useful for us. The photos in the portal should be labeled with the ship names. We had booked the Indus, the photos showed the cabins and wheelhouse of a slightly larger ship, which had a small door in the ship's side. Unfortunately, photos of the "bathroom" which only consisted of a ship's toilet and a tiny vanity were missing. When it came to equipment, we preferred to use the toilets in the marinas ;-) The description of the equipment is not identical for all ships, this could also be optimized. We still enjoyed our adventure very much and like to keep it in memory. We will definitely come back to Friesland, the landscape is very beautiful and the Frisians are very friendly and relaxed. Getting in and out was a real adventure for me because of my hip problems. In the rear sleeping cabin was the entry and exit height of about 50 cm. a real problem.
Very flexible, accommodating handover. Even with 5 adults, the trip was great in good weather. Comparable to a trip in a caravan. But for us much more comfortable, because almost everywhere there was a place to dock in the open air. Bathing in the canal was always possible. A wonderful replacement for the missing shower and the occasional warm shower in a marina. That's exactly how we imagined it. There are 4 similar ships. Unfortunately, the assignment of the pictures in the description is not 100% correct. A small minus for that.

The occupancy of the boat with six people is only very cramped. The bow cabin in particular does not have enough space for two adults. Otherwise a really great historic boat, which corresponds exactly to the information. Great service and easy booking.
