What to do in Marmaris?
Once in Marmaris, go to one of the beaches first. They occupy almost the entire coast here. The largest and most popular are Uzunyali, Icmeler, Turunç, Kumbuluk and Ciftlik.
Turunç is a picturesque beach, located in a small bay, which can be accessed on board a rented boat.
From here you can hop aboard a boat and sail to the beautiful bay of Icmeler, which is located southwest of Marmaris. This place is famous for its large number of hills and thermal springs. The ruins of a monastery are also nearby.
Marmaris is a great place for water sports. You can go parasailing, jet skiing, windsurfing and diving from the beaches. By the way, there are several professional diving schools along the coast.
There are a lot of attractions in and around the city. We recommend that fans of history and architecture go sightseeing in the ancient cities of Hierapolis and Ephesus. The latter has one of the seven wonders of the world, the Temple of Artemis. We also recommend visiting the Marmaris Castle, built in 3000 BC. Now there is a museum in the castle.
For those who are fond of Turkish culture and love local traditions, we recommend going to the bazaar and steaming in Turkish baths. The most famous local bazaar is Bedesten. It is not only a place where you can buy quality Turkish-made goods, but also a masterpiece of architecture.
If you are a fan of nightlife and parties, you should definitely go to Bar Street in the evening. It connects the central square of Marmaris with the marina. It is home to the most popular bars, restaurants and nightclubs in town.
You can park your rented boat at the Marmaris Yacht Harbour. The port is equipped with all amenities. There are wi-fi, 24-hour security, and a restaurant. If you have just arrived in the city, you can start your journey in the same port. There is a wide range of boats, catamarans, sailing boats and motor yachts that can be rented with or without a skipper.
How is the weather in Marmaris?
Marmaris has a Mediterranean climate. In summer, the temperature stays above 30 degrees and does not drop below 4 degrees in winter. The high season here lasts from May to October. Water temperatures during this time range from 20 degrees (in May) to 27 degrees (in August). If you are planning a charter in the winter months, it is advisable to check the weather forecast, the winds, the recommended routes and, if necessary, the skipper's services. This will allow you to worry less during your holiday and enjoy your trip without having to think about sailing.
How to get to Marmaris?
Dalaman Airport, the closest airport to Marmaris, is just 120 kilometres from the resort. Getting there directly can be problematic as you will most likely have to get a transfer to Istanbul. Some airlines provide free transfers from the airport to Marmaris.
You can also get here by bus from one of the Turkish cities - Istanbul, Bodrum, Izmir and others. Travel time varies from 3 to 12 hours.
The most pleasant option, in our opinion, is to get to Marmaris on board a rented boat. You can hire a boat in one of the Turkish cities, such as Bodrum or Fethiye, or on the Greek island of Rhodes.
